About this settlement
Louisiana State Farm total loss insurance fees settlement
Summary
Plaintiff alleges State Farm failed to pay Louisiana insureds the full Purchasing Fees (sales tax, title fees, notary fees, registration and license plate transfer fees, and tag fees) owed after a covered auto physical damage claim resulted in a total loss payment. State Farm denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the claims. Eligible Settlement Class Members who submit a valid and timely Claim Form will receive a flat payment of $28.39 for unpaid Purchasing Fees. The settlement separately provides for up to $205,000 in attorneys fees and costs and a $5,000 service award to the class representative, paid by State Farm without reducing class payments. Claim Forms must be submitted online or postmarked by October 19, 2026.
Who qualifies
Settlement Class Members are Louisiana policyholders and insureds of an applicable State Farm entity who submitted a covered first-party private passenger auto physical damage claim between May 17, 2022 and May 21, 2026 that resulted in a total loss claim payment from State Farm which did not include Purchasing Fees. Purchasing Fees means sales tax, title fees (including transfer handling fees), notary fees, registration and license plate transfer fees, and tag fees. Class members must submit a valid and timely Claim Form to receive payment.
Suits does not handle payments or process claims. Payments are issued by the claim administrator and typically take 3-6 months.
